A tip for teaching self discipline: Be a role model. Show that you’ve learned self-control, that you manage yourself with discipline for your work. Make plenty of time for play, but when it’s time for your responsibilities, show that you’re dependable and in charge. Kids learn from watching us.

A Note on Friendships
Friendships are kids’ most urgent interests as they get older. Maintaining friendships is a learned skill, and kids need a sympathetic ear to sort things out. Be that person. You don’t need answers. Just be there.
