Encourage

Provide rewards and consequences for your child.  It's okay to have age-appropriate rewards when kids reach goals.  Encourage them, support them, and nag them when necessary!

A back to school tip

Review regularly.  Ask your child what they're learning, reading, writing about.  How’s it coming on that assignment due next week?  What did you learn today?  Expect conversation, not just one word answers.  Remember, be patient! 

A tip for a successful school year

Stay positive.  This is true for parents and students alike.  There will be good days and weeks, and there will be not-so-good ones.  Keep it all in balanced perspective.
